Started out in customer service, but quickly promoted to editor, copywriter and also started a company blog. I edited photos and videos and created informational articles for customers on the company's website.
I was management's right-hand assistant for administration and product information. I worked closely with the general manager as a hiring co-ordinator. I was the go-to person for customers and sales staff for product information as I was the store's Multi-Channel Sales Assistant, answering all in-bound calls to the store. Through this, I researched products, prices and customer service policies to best serve customers' needs. I managed a small team to ensure customers were being assisted in the best manner possible.
I started an online business creating eco-friendly stationery items and prints. I managed the marketing and social media for the company.
I became an IKEA co-worker April 22, 2004 and was introduced to a unique way of doing business. This proved to be a perfect fit with my own inclinations. I transferred to Coquitlam in order to further my post-secondary studies in Vancouver.
Being a lighting specialist enabled me to develop my design skills further in the following ways, as well as numerous others, I: ?contacted manufacturer's representatives for product information and shipping details ?created visually impactful floor displays ?prepared lighting fixtures and other merchandise for display in showroom ?assisted clients by creating lighting fixture layouts, choosing energy-saving fixtures, and suggesting lighting fixtures to go with an overall theme. I maintained high sales figures, consistently achieving sales bonuses and incentives.
As a design and display assistant at McArthur I was able to utilize and further my design skills effectively in a retail environment. Specifically this position included: ?working closely with the visual merchandiser as well as the sales manager in order to effectively represent merchandise on the display floor, maximizing store sales ?designing and managing the development and implementation of collateral and display materials ?working closely with furniture manufacturers to ensure that the most current sales tools were well organized and available for use by staff and clients ?preparing the floor for sales and promotions through eye catching displays and point of sale merchandise ?receiving and preparing all accessories in order for use on the floor ?assisting customers in front counter and telephone sales ?acting as an expert in our merchandise, and management software in order to regulate and manage store inventory (Profit Systems vs. 9.4)

I am paid for my writing through paid sponsorship, advertising revenue, and product sponsorship. Well within its first year, I have grown my blog to thousands of followers. Through the process of creating content for my blog, I have gained and furthered my skills in the following areas: opromoting artists and interior designers onetworking and partnering with professionals in various fields in order to create a mutually beneficial relationship owriting pitches and proposals outilizing web 2.0 social media to promote products, services and ideas
